Meet new CAC Therapist, Mariah Adamy!

1) Explain your role at the CAC?

My role at the CAC is to provide therapy to children, adolescents, and parents who have been impacted by child sexual abuse. I also am responsible for the coordination and implementation of support groups for children and teens who were victims of child sexual abuse.

2) What led you to work at the CAC

My internship through Western Michigan University was at Calhoun County CAC and I loved the model CACs use. I think knowing there is a team of people surrounding a family with support through a traumatic event, impacts the healing process in such a positive way.

3) Tell us about someone that has influenced your decision to work at the CAC or a mentor that has helped your career.

Amber DePuydt-Goodlock was my supervisor during my internship at Calhoun County CAC (Sexual Assault Services) and I learned so much from her. Amber’s compassion for the work done at a CAC and drive to continue learning really inspired me to go into this field.

4) How do you enjoy spending your time when you are not working?

When I am not working, I love to be outdoors or trying new places. I enjoy taking my dog, Obi, for a walk or to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

5) What is the one thing you are most proud of about your job?

I am not sure if I can identify one thing I am most proud of, but one thing I love about my job is being able to see clients grow and heal from the trauma they have experienced.
